Compare the scent description with the format and intended use
To compare Singapore perfumes online, start with notes you enjoy, then check the product’s format, bottle size and application directions. Use those details to build a shortlist, and sample where possible before committing to a scent. Five examples from DORS show how citrus, florals, spices, herbs and gourmand notes can lead to different choices.
Read Beyond the First Notes
Top notes describe the opening impression, heart notes the central character, and base notes the longer-lasting foundation. These stages can overlap. A citrus opening may sit over florals, spices or woods, so read the whole description. Treat the note list as a guide to the smell; consult the ingredient label for composition.
Citrus and Florals with a Woody Base
SINGAPORE MEMORIES
The Singapore Girl 20ml (S$35) combines soft citrus, lotus and water lily with a teakwood base, according to DORS. The 20 ml perfume is an option to shortlist if you enjoy floral notes with a citrus opening. Read the woody base alongside the flowers when comparing it with other florals. The note list describes the scent direction; it does not establish how strongly each note will appear on your skin.

Citrus with Pepper and Tobacco
THE LAB FRAGRANCES
The Pepper & Tobacco Perfume (S$138) is shown in the 50 ml size. DORS lists bergamot, grapefruit and pepper at the top, saffron and cinnamon in the middle, and tobacco, vetiver and leather in the base. This is a way to compare a citrus opening with a spicier, woody description underneath. The pictured bottle is labelled Eau de Parfum; that label alone does not give an exact concentration or a guaranteed wear time.

Spiced Florals with Vanilla and Coconut
POSTCARD
The Threads of Nonya Anywhere Fragrance (S$55) brings calamansi lime and jasmine together with clove and nutmeg, followed by vanilla, coconut and patchouli. Those listed notes give you a spiced floral option with sweet supporting notes to compare against a drier tobacco or woody profile. POSTCARD’s directions allow light application to skin, fabric or spaces. Confirm the bottle capacity before ordering; it is not stated in the product-page text.

Herbal Notes with Cucumber and Light Musk
SOUL GOOD PROJECT
The Tea Thyme Fragrance Spray (S$38.80) is a 50 ml fragrance spray with thyme and cucumber top notes, rose and jasmine in the heart, and light musk in the base. The name suggests tea, but the published key-note list does not name a tea note. Use that list to compare its herbal and floral direction. Both DORS and the brand describe body use alongside room and linen use; follow the label’s directions, including avoiding eyes and broken skin.

Compare the Actual Format
Eau de Parfum, perfume mist and Anywhere Fragrance are useful labels to record, but they do not tell you everything about the formula. IFRA’s guidance on fragrance terminology explains that terms such as Eau de Parfum do not have one universally fixed concentration definition. Use a brand’s stated percentage when it is available; avoid assigning one from the name alone.
Check permitted use separately. A room-only spray should stay outside a personal-fragrance comparison. For a multipurpose spray, read its own instructions before applying it to skin or fabrics. Body-use permission does not automatically extend to hair, the face or every textile.
Coffee and Caramel in a Gourmand Scent
CLEAN FOLKS CLUB
The Kopi Roast Perfume Mist (S$38) is shown in the 50 ml size. DORS describes roasted coffee, sweet cream and caramel, placing it in a food-inspired, or gourmand, direction. It is an option for someone drawn to coffee and dessert-like scent descriptions. The listing permits use on the body, linens or in the air and advises avoiding the face and sensitive skin areas. Follow the directions for the surface you intend to scent.

Judge Wear and Mood Through Sampling
A note pyramid cannot promise a number of wear hours, and a bottle labelled mist should not automatically be ranked below one labelled perfume. Where a sample is available, follow its application directions and revisit the scent later in your normal routine. Notice whether you still enjoy the developing scent and how noticeable you want it to be in a shared space.
Use mood words as personal preferences: perhaps you want a floral impression, a herbal scent or a coffee-like sweetness. They describe what you are looking for, rather than a guaranteed calming, focusing or sleep benefit. Shortlist two contrasting descriptions, compare the stated size and price, and choose the one you most want to wear.
